Adrian “AJ” Borden, 57, of Whitman passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 27, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 6, 1951 in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. He was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Cambridge Massachusetts and he attended Massasoit Community College, Stonehill College as well as Bridgewater State College. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was employed by Entergy in Plymouth, as a Quality Control Inspector, as well as Eastern Edison & Boston Edison. He was a member of the Utility Workers of America Local 369. He was also a former member of the Board of Directors at Notre Dame Academy in Hingham, and was past President of St Bridget’s School PTO. He was a communicant at both Holy Ghost Church in Whitman and St Bridget’s Church in Abington, and a frequent participant of Perpetual Adoration.
He was husband and best friend for 34 years of Patricia L. (Russo) Borden. He leaves his children Cheryl Borden of Whitman, Michelle (Borden) Penney of Melrose, and Jennifer Borden of Whitman. Son of the late Andrew J. Borden and Anna M. Spidle. Step-father of Roderick Spidle of Centerville. He was the brother of Lorraine Rosen of Weymouth , Charlene Walsh of Weymouth, Joseph Borden of Plymouth, Marjorie Spidle of Worchester, and the late Beverly Sullivan. AJ was a compassionate man of deep faith and conviction and was a friend to everyone he met. He loved the ocean, boating, fishing, hockey, and spending time at home with his family and friends. He will always be in the hearts of those he knew and he will be missed.

Visiting hours in the MacKinnon Funeral home 760 Washington St., WHITMAN on Sunday 4-8 pm.

Funeral Mass on Monday in Holy Ghost Church in Whitman at 10 am. Relatives and friend invited to attend. Interment at St. James Cemetery in Whitman.

His family wishes to thank all their family and friends as well as the Dana Farber Cancer Center, South Shore Hospital, and Hospice of the South Shore for their caring support during this difficult time.
