Anna Clare (Twitchell) Price, 97, of East Bridgewater died after a brief illness at the Tobey Hospital in Wareham, MA surrounded by her family. Anna, or Anne as she was often called, was born October 30, 1921 in Boston to the late Charles E. Twitchell and Ella E. (Sargent) Twitchell. She was a graduate of Dorchester High School for Girls in Codman Square, and spent many summers growing up in Manchester-by-the-Sea with her Uncle Albert.
Anna married Robert Allen Price on July 17, 1948 and were blessed with 65 years together. Their retirement years were happily spent in West Harwich as well as looking forward to wintering on Marco Island. While living their dream on Cape Cod, they opened their home to a Bed & Breakfast that they named Wind Chimes, welcoming guests during the summer months. Sailing to Monomoy Island on their sailboat Wind Dancer was one of their favorite destinations. Her children and many of her grandchildren got their love of the ocean from her. While her children were growing up, Anna and Bob discovered a little known strand of beach tucked away in Falmouth that will forever be known as “Price’s Beach.” The family spent many happy times there. After the death of her beloved husband Bob in 2013, she lived with her daughter Carol and son-in-law, Charlie in East Bridgewater, and her last year at the All American Assisted Living in Wareham.
One of Anna’s delights once retired was entering and winning various cooking contests. She was also an excellent seamstress, passing on her knowledge to her daughters. She loved to sing and dance, listening to the ‘Big Bands,’ and could always be found in her later years reading a good book.
Before retiring, Anna had held many secretarial positions. Among these were the Federal Housing Authority, National Labor Relations Board, faculty secretary at the Catherine Laboure School of Nursing in Dorchester and Social Security offices in both Roslindale and Hyannis.
Anna is predeceased by her husband Robert, her brother Edwin Twitchell and sister Ella (Mae) Hackley. She is survived by her children Carol O’Donnell of East Bridgewater, Janet McLaughlin of Plymouth, Bob Price of Kingston and David Price of Worcester. She will be missed by her grandchildren Brian and John O’Donnell; Jana Balboni; Isaac, Duncan and Nicolas Banks; Eric and Lauren Price, as well as her great grandchildren Grace, Aidan, Connor, Lily and Molly O’Donnell; Tyler and Justin Balboni; Addison and Lucy Banks along with many nieces and nephews.
