Bonnie Duncan

June 19, 1954 — August 6, 2022

Whitman

Bonnie Duncan, of Whitman, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022, peacefully in her home after a brave battle with lung cancer. She was 68 years old.

Born in Campbellton, New Brunswick, Bonnie was the daughter of the late B. Edith (Ryans) and Joseph Duncan. Bonnie was an inspiration to both her friends and family throughout her life and as she faced her terminal cancer diagnosis. Even as she faced the end of her life, Bonnie continued to comfort those she loved. She faced death with strength, courage, and resignation only thinking of those she was leaving behind and teaching all of us not only how to live but also how to die.

Bonnie dedicated her life to helping others not only in her 46-year career as a nurse but also in the loving dedication and support she showed her family and friends. She was a first responder when the pandemic hit fearlessly dedicated to caring for COVID patients before there was any protection, or we knew exactly what we were facing with this virus. Despite having high risk factors to contract the disease, she never questioned whether to help. Her strong faith in God always carried her through.

Bonnie was the loving sister to Larry Duncan of Niagara-on-the Lake, Ontario, Daniel Duncan of Riverview, Florida, Dwight Duncan of Walpole, and Gloria Bryant of Ashburnham. Bonnie is also survived by her stepdaughter, Lisa DeScenza of Westford, nieces Nicole Zwetchkenbaum of Medway, Rachael Lujbli of Lake George, New York, Jess Duncan of Poultney, Vermont, and Bonnie Grace Coffin of Littleton, nephews Ryan Duncan of Norwood, Douglas Coffin of Whitman, and Alex Duncan of Medicine Hat, Alberta. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Isabella DeScenza and Anthony DeScenza, both of Westford.

Bonnie is remembered with love by her sisters-in-law, Sherry Duncan of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Jean Duncan of Riverview, Florida, Lisa Duncan of Walpole, and brother-in-law Rocky Bryant of Ashburnham as well as her son-in-law, Paul DeScenza of Westford.
