Daniel C. French Jr., age 67 of Weymouth, formally of Rehoboth and Taunton mass passed away November 15, 2021 at South shore Hospital after battling throat cancer.
He was the beloved son of the late Ann L.(Nuttall) French & Daniel C. French Sr. Dear father of daughter Carolyn M. French of PA & a son Mark Sherry of Rehoboth. Dan was the oldest of 8 children. His surviving siblings are: Niki French and husband Jim Swanson of Weymouth, Paula French of Quincy, Boni French of Tennessee, , Sheri French of Rehoboth, Michael French of Quincy , Gineen French & Husband Jose Nova Ferrand of RI & the late Leanne French.
Dan was predeceased by his former wives Patricia( Moore ) French , Nancy ( Sherry) French . He leaves his former wife Bernice ( Potter) French of Taunton and his stepson Rory Lydon of RI.
Dan was a hardworking man who often worked 2 jobs to provide for his family.
He was the co-owner of Bunny’s restaurant, Taunton Ma. He worked for years at Ace Auto in Quincy,
General Dynamics also in Quincy. Later in life he worked as a truck driver for New England ice cream in Norton. He was known as Dan the ice cream man , always willing to bring ice cream to family parties.
Dan was a devout Christian man who loved to help young children. He was a Boy Scout leader for his nephew Zackary French of Braintree. He was the uncle of 16 nieces & nephews. His first nephew Daniel Aimola of Weymouth was named after him. He was pre-deceased by his nephew Shawn Bradshaw French, Dan also had many cousins.
In his younger years Dan was a member of a band with his lifelong friends Glenn Sheriff, Jeff Haslett & the late Ronnie Cochran. He also had a close friend David Coull.
Dan enjoyed many things in life including traveling , fixing cars, & the ocean .
Dan donated his body to science at Tufts medical school.
We will have a private Christian graveside celebration of his life At Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester mass in the spring.
