Eileen Clauss

Eileen E. Clauss, of Rockland, Massachusetts, passed away on August 8, 2026, at the age of 82.

Born in Massachusetts to the late Edward O’Leary and Helen O’Leary (McDonald), Eileen was a graduate of Randolph High School, Class of 1961. She went on to build a life centered around her family, friendships, and the simple pleasures she enjoyed most.

Eileen began her working career as a legal secretary at John Hancock. She spent 37 years waitressing at Valle's Steakhouse, later known as Hilltop, where she became a familiar and beloved presence. She also worked for 10 years at Allerton House Nursing Home.

Eileen married Robert J. Clauss and together they raised their family in Rockland. In 1988, she married Wylie Cronk.

Eileen enjoyed dancing, especially at the Surf Ballroom at Nantasket Beach and the Dalton Club. She loved thrifting and could often be found enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the duck pond at Reed’s Pond in Rockland, watching wildlife and taking in the beauty around her.

Above all, Eileen treasured her family. She was the loving mother of Bryan Clauss of Worcester, John Clauss of Rockland, and Robert Clauss and his wife, Kristine, of Rockland. She was the proud grandmother of Melissa, Nolan, and Saige, and the cherished great-grandmother of Jennings, Fisher, and River.

Eileen was the sister of Beverly Crispi and her husband, Joseph, and Stephen O’Leary. She was a beloved aunt to Andrew and Gregory and a dear friend to many throughout her life. She shared a special bond with her best friends, Mary “Queenie” Tolson, Margie Bunzell and the late Maureen Black.

Eileen will be remembered for the love she gave to her family, the friendships she treasured, and the many memories she created throughout her life.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington Street, Whitman, MA 02382. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
