Eleanor Colvin

Eleanor L. (Bearce) "Lefty" Colvin of Whitman died at Lakes Regional Hospital in Laconia, NH while on vacation Saturday July 18, 2009. She was 85.
Born in Brockton and has lived all of her life in Whitman. She graduated from Whitman High School Class of 42. She was involed in many sports such as soccer, volley ball, and was Captain of the Basket Ball Team and was known to many as Lefty. She was employed at Commonwealth Shoe and Leather Co. in Whitman and National Cranberry now known as Ocean Spray. She was the bookkeeper for her Husbands Plumbing Co. Colvin Plumbing and Heating Co.in Whitman for many years. She was active in P.T.A., Girl Scouts and was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan. She also loved to sew.
She is the beloved wife of 60 years to Richard H. Colvin. She is also survived by her devoted grandaughter Christie T. Colvin of Whitman, the loving mother of Heidi M. Oswald of Wolcott, CT, Rozalen J. Jenkins of Marston, Mills, Chrisell L. Cronin of Jonesboruogh, TN. Sister of Benjamin Bearce of Halifax, the late Carolyn Gorham of Duxbury, and Stanley Bearce of Hanson.Grandmother of Rybecca Abbott, Lindsey Oswald, Alex and Zack Pober, Kenny and Kayla Cronin. Great grandmother of Nathan Abbott.
Calling hours will be in the MacKinnon Funeral Home 760 Washington St. (Off Rte. 18) WHITMAN on Wednesday 4-8 PM. Services will be in the Funeral Home on Thursday at 10 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment Colerbrook Cemetery, Whitman.
