Fall River

I t is with great sadness that we share the news on the passing of our mother Elizabeth “Betty” May (Betty Boop). She went to eternal peace after a lengthy battle with dementia on December 14, 2022.

Betty was the daughter of the late Stanley and Marjorie Cobbett. She graduated from East Bridgewater High School in 1971. She enjoyed playing tennis and field hockey for the school.

She is survived by her three children David May and (Angela Pacheco) of Tiverton RI. Her daughter Karen Melanson of Fall River Ma and her daughter Lisa May and two Grandpups Rebel and Luna of Monmouth ME. She will be lovingly remembered by several grandchildren, three of whom she has lived with and helped raise Shayna, Shaun and Damon. Betty is predeceased by two brothers, William and Steven. She is survived by three brothers and one sister. Ronald Maribett and (Constance) of Kingston Ma Richard Cobbett (Salete) of Goffstown NH, James Cobbett (Danna) of Loveland CO and her Irish Twin Marilyn Smollett (Terrence) of East Bridgewater MA. In addition, Betty had many nieces and nephews whom she had very special bonds with. A special note of Amy Inacio of Plymouth MA and Zachary Smollett and his wife (Michelle) of Pawtucket RI that were like children to her.  Also, all of her devoted caring friends.

Betty was a CNA for many years she worked at the Goddard Hospital, Braemoore Rehabilitation and Brockton Hospital for many years. She made amazing contributions in caring for her residents and they showed their gratitude with handmade gifts to her. Betty was a member of the Methodist Church choir for many years. She loved the Patriots and her Gronk and TB12. She enjoyed traveling to Florida and Las Vegas. She also enjoyed going out dancing bowling and family gatherings.

In lieu of flowers please donate to a food pantry in her name. She would feel blessed to know that something good came out of this.
