McQUEEN, George H.R. 85, died August 8, 2009 at his home in Sudbury after a brief illness. He left with grace and peace surrounded by his family. Mr. McQueen graduated from MIT in 1948 and received a graduate degree from Northeastern. He worked for Polaroid for 25 years as an engineer. He had a lifelong love of sailing and spent many summers in maine on his beloved boat "Ceilidh". Mr. McQueen was active in progressive political causes for many years, working for environmental causes, reproductive rights, gay and lesbian rights, and against the war. He was recently honored by the Massachusetts House for his work on behalf of the democratic party. He was predeceased by his first wife Margaret. He leaves his wife Barberie, his sister Carol Everett, his daughter Carolyn McQueen, his son Jeffrey McQueen and wife Amy Kahn, stepchildren Ted and Barberie van Valey, grandchildren Tyler & Josh Deane, Lauren & Ava Kahn-McQueen, and Grace van Valey. There will be a memorial service on September 12 at 11:00 am at the First Parish of Sudbury, 327 Concord Road, Sudbury.
