Gerard Prew

December 9, 1944 — August 30, 2025

Carver, MA

Gerard Dennis Prew, born January 9, 1944 to Bob & Ruth Prew. He was the youngest of 4 children, brothers Bob & Joe and sister Peggy always looked out for him while growing up in Revere, MA. He graduated from Revere High School in 1962 and went on to join the Navy. He began his career at NAS South Weymouth where he met the love of his life Patricia Ann Ahearn. They married December 5, 1965 and started their family with Mike in Jan 1967, following quickly with Michelle in December of the same year. With 2 small children in tow they went cross-country to California where he was stationed at Moffett Field and Pt. Magu. Tina was born in 1972 to complete his wonderful family. In 1977 he was transferred back to NAS So. Weymouth.  The following spring he and Patty bought their home in Carver where they have been ever since. After retiring from the Navy he and his good friend and business partner Steve DeMaeo opened The Shop in Plymouth, MA. When he retired for the second time he and Patty became Snow Birds spending winters in Florida, making another whole batch of lasting friendships with people from all over the country and Canada.

His hobbies were cars, boats and more cars. He built dune buggies and VW Bug hot rods when he was in California and restored countless antique cars and boats in his garage in Carver. He always had a project going on, I think the longest one was the 14 ft wooden sailboat that he built by hand. Patty’s favorite was the Koi Pond he put in the backyard, it is still the most relaxing place on earth.

With such a full life his family always came first. He showed by example what a good man is. We were all lucky to have him in our lives, he touched everyone he met with his quiet, steady personality. We will miss him every day but also know that he is watching over us with love.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of almost 60 years Patricia “Patty” Prew (Ahearn) of Carver, his loving children Mike Prew and his partner Becki Davidson of Plymouth, Michelle Brown and her husband Dave of Middleboro, and Tina Talbot and her husband John of Carver, his cherished grandchildren Amanda, Melissa, Chelsey, Ryan, John and Steven. Jerry is also the Great Bubba to Audri, Charlotte, Parker and Everly.

Becki’s kids, his “bonus” grandchildren are Aubree, Brandon, Katelin, and Jadey, and “bonus” grandbaby Oliver.
