Harold R. (Pete) Norton

December 3, 1940 — August 27, 2025

S. Dennis, MA

Harold “Pete” Norton of South Dennis, MA, 84, husband of the late Geraldine T. Norton, passed peacefully on August 27, 2025 at The Lily House hospice home in Wellfleet, MA. Pete was born in Hartford, CT and grew up in Wethersfield, CT. He attended boarding school at Wilbraham Academy where he founded the pirate radio station Radio Free Wilbraham and where he was a prolific prankster who made the headmaster’s job much harder than it should have been. He was a graduate of the University of Hartford.

A gregarious person by nature, Pete started his career at Pratt & Whitney then worked in sales for the majority of his career at various companies, retiring in 1999. He married Gerry (Trzcinka) Norton in 1965 and they raised their two daughters in Wethersfield and South Dennis, MA on Cape Cod.

In his younger years, Pete was an avid golfer and longtime member of Wethersfield Country Club. He and Gerry loved to travel and visited Asia, many European countries, and much of the Caribbean. They loved spending time each winter in Anguilla where they had many friends. They moved from Wethersfield to Cape Cod permanently in 2012.

Pete loved ‘tooling around in the yacht’, Gypsy, a small motorized inflatable boat, and lighting off (illegal) fireworks for his kids and grandkids on the Fourth of July. Pete and Gerry spent many happy hours on the banks of Bass River on Cape Cod watching the boats go by. We have no doubt he is off on his next adventure.

Pete leaves his loving companion Jacky Clancy, two daughters, Kim Norton of South Yarmouth, MA and Sherri Norton of Pineville, NC, two grandchildren, Connor and Sawyer O’Brien, and former son-in-law Keith O’Brien. The family sends heartfelt thanks to The Lily House for their loving care during their father’s last weeks.

Services will be private. Donations in Pete’s honor can be made to The Lily House at www.thelilyhouse.org or PO Box 1818, Wellfleet, MA 02667.
