Irene Elizabeth King

Irene Elizabeth King of Duxbury passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023, at the age of 94. Irene was raised and educated in Quincy graduating from Quincy High School with the class of 1947. She met and married Albert King and the two settled down in Quincy, started a family and spent 70 amazing years together. Irene worked at Remick’s and then as a sales associate at Jordan Marsh until her retirement.

Irene was a very talented and crafty woman. She enjoyed painting, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She would take trips with her family up to Maine and would spend time on Cape Cod. Irene was a member of the Bethany Congregational Mothers Club and was a part of her girl’s lunch group. Above all else Irene loved her family and cherished any time she got to spend with them.

Irene was the loving wife of 70 years to Albert O. King of Duxbury. She was the devoted mother of Gordon King, his wife Christine of Hanson, Douglas King, his wife Cindy of Plymouth, Bruce King and his wife Tammy of Weymouth and her former Daughter-in-Law Michele Duncan of Abington. She was the cherished grandmother of Al, Sean, Cory, Kayla and Great Grandmother of 7. Irene also leaves behind many extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service for Irene on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 12:30PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in Irene’s memory to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy.
