Jo Ann (Jody) Carrington, 99, died at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley on February 20, 2026. Née Jo Ann Miller, Jody was born in Lubbock, Texas on September 12, 1926, and she never lost her southern warmth or her Texas drawl.
Over the course of her life, she lived all over the country, first as an Air Force wife to her first husband Lou Carrington, and later as the free spirit she was as a divorcée.
Jody worked primarily in retail and was last employed selling art supplies in Altadena, California, before moving across the country in 1988 when she married the Rev. Dr. Theodore (Ted) W. Lewis, her friend since they met in Maine in the 1960s. Jody and Ted settled in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, where they spent most of their twenty-five years of marriage.
Jody was a talented artist whose paintings were displayed in local art exhibits and whose works now grace the homes of her family and friends. Jody was gracious and accepting, with a huge heart, and she had friends from all walks of life.
Jody is predeceased by her husband and her children, Patrick Carrington and Andrea Childress.
She is survived by Ted’s children, Michael (Teresa) Lewis and Katherine Lewis (Peter Tagtmeyer); and by three grandchildren, Cameron Childress and Nicholas and Evan Tagtmeyer.
Services for Jody will be held at St. Andrews Church, Ayer, on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 11:00 am.
