Joan Gannon (Corcoran), 82, of East Bridgewater and formerly of Abington, died peacefully at home on October 29, 2025. She was born in Co. Kerry, Ireland to Dan and Mary (McGillicuddy) Corcoran. Joan was the loving mother of Patrick Gannon, Susan Leonard, Maura Bagley, and Sara Jean Iacobucci. She cherished her relationships with her sons-in-law, Wes Leonard, Tom Bagley, and Jeremy Iacobucci, embracing each of them as part of her family. Above all, Joan took immense pride in being Nana to nine wonderful grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth Gannon, Coleman, Anna, Gavin and Ryan Bagley, Maggie and Sean Leonard, Nathan and Charlie Iacobucci. Joan was a beloved sister to Mim and Ed Connors of New Hampshire; Noreen and the late Billy McDonnell of Marshfield; Sonny and Claire Corcoran; and Breeda and Jimmy Browne, all of Ireland. She was also predeceased by her dear sister and brother-in-law Kathleen and Dermot Flynn and her loving sisters-in-law Sally Moorhouse and Peggy White. Joan was a devoted aunt to many.
Her strong connections with extended family spanned generations and continents. She had a special bond with her nieces Sue Finn, Carol Anne Moorhouse, and the late Debbie Moorhouse.Joan worked at New England Art Publishers in Abington for over 30 years, where she made many lifelong friends.
Joan was a familiar face at the Abington Knights of Columbus where she created many cherished memories and lasting friendships she valued throughout her life. She enjoyed playing bingo, a quiet poker game, a good cup of tea and the occasional hot toddy next to a warm fire. Joan was a fantastic host and was known for her Sunday roast beef dinners. Summer vacations on Rexhame Beach hold special memories for all the family. Joan was always ready to feed anyone who came by, regardless of whether she knew them or not.Joan was a wonderful mother, aunt, and friend and she will rest alongside her beloved husband of 49 years, Curly Gannon. Joan will always be remembered and dearly cherished in our hearts for generations to come.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Joan on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 4-7pm in the MacKinnon Funeral Home located at 760 Washington St. Whitman, MA 02382. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home on Friday morning at 9:30am for a Celebration of Life reflection prior to driving, in procession, to St. Bridgette's Church on Plymouth Street in Abington. Burial will immediately follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Rockland, MA.
