John Edward Costello, 58, of Middleborough, Massachusetts, passed away on May 1, 2026. Born on October 21, 1967, John was known for his vibrant personality and sense of humor, often lighting up any room he entered.
John dedicated many years to his career as an elevator constructor before retiring, leaving behind many colleagues who became lifelong friends. Outside of work, he loved riding his motorcycle and spending time with those he cared about most. Above all else, John cherished his family. He took great pride in his son, Christopher, and found immense joy in watching his family grow, especially with the recent arrival of his beloved granddaughter, Ellie.
John is survived by his loving family: his son, Christopher Costello; daughter-in-law, Erica Costello; granddaughter, Elliana Nicole Costello; mother, Marian Costello; and siblings, Diane Bates, Anne Costello DiFrancesco, Joanne Ewers, Kenneth Costello, Tara Ganley, John Michael Costello, and Mark Costello. He was preceded in death by his former wife and the mother of his son, Nicole Wendy Fuller; his father, Daniel Costello; and his brothers, Daniel Costello and Francis Costello.
Though life brought periods of distance within the family, recent reconnections have brought comfort, healing, and renewed closeness among those who loved John. His family is grateful for the bonds that were restored and for the love that continues to surround the next generation.
John will be remembered as a devoted father, proud grandfather, loyal friend, and someone whose presence brought laughter and warmth to those around him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. At John’s request, there will be no wake or formal funeral services. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will come together to share memories and honor his life.
