Karen Sharon

June 11, 1956 — April 22, 2020

Karen (Kris) Ann Sharon (Heck) of Whitman passed away at the age of 63 on April 22, 2020 after contracting the Covid 19 virus. She had been beating breast cancer for several years. Karen is predeceased by her mother Dolores (Lawlor) Heck. Karen is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years Edward N. Sharon of Whitman. She was the beloved mother of Amanda LaFratta (Sharon) and her husband Christopher LaFratta of New York, Timothy Sharon and his wife Erin (Shanahan) of Plymouth, and was a proud “Nanny” to four grandsons Michael and Joshua LaFratta, and Edward and Patrick Sharon. She is also survived by her two brothers Michael Heck and his wife Kathy of Burlington, James Heck and his wife Wanda of South Carolina, sisters-in-law Mary Ellen (Sharon) Shallies and Kathleen (Sharon) Lynch, and many nieces and nephews.

Karen was born June 11, 1956 in Chelsea Massachusetts. She was a graduate of Brockton High School and was scheduled to graduate in May with her bachelor’s degree from the New England College of Banking. Karen rose through the ranks at Rockland Trust over the last 27 years where she was the manager of the Hanson branch.

Karen loved music and dancing, gardening, painting, quilting, and crafting of all kinds. She loved to exercise with her CrossFit friends at the gym. Karen’s beverage of choice was a cold can of Pepsi poured over a very full cup of ice. She was extremely generous and frequently volunteered at the Friends of Hanson Senior Center, the Whitman Middle School Haunted House, and South Shore Vo-Tech career day. She was also a CCD teacher and girl scout leader. Karen loved Caribbean vacations and was fortunate enough to travel extensively with her husband. Her favorite thing to do by far was to spend time with her beloved grandsons.

A celebration of Karen’s life will be held at a later date.
