Kevin M. McCormick, of Taft, Calif., age 51, passed on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015. Born in Dorchester, Mass. at St. Margarets Hospital, (St. Patricks Day), March 17, 1963. He was the eldest Son of James Francis and Eileen McCormick of Whitman. He is survived by his children Cassandra (McCormick) Dias Providence, R.I., Kevin (McCormick) Dias Brockton, Mass., and Shannon McCormick Taft, Calif. He was the Stepfather to Nicholas Knight of Taft, Calif. and Jeremy Knight with his wife Nichelle Jo and their children Adam and Aiden of Taft, Calif. Kevin was also the loving brother of Eileen McCormick Koyon of Middleboro, James F. McCormick Jr. of Carver, and Kerri McCormick Anderson and her husband John of Whitman.

In his early years Kevin grew up in St. Williams Parish in Dorchester and attended St. Williams Elementary School. He became an alter boy, band member, baseball player, and loved going to Savin Hill Beach to swim the summers away. It was at the beach where he developed a love of the ocean. The family moved to Whitman in 1976 and Kevin went to high school and graduated from Weymouth Technical School, Weymouth, MA in1982. Kevin enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1983 and served on USS Farragut, based out of Norfolk Va., as an Electrical Mechanical Equipment Repairman. He sailed around the globe, until his Honorable Discharge from the service in 1987. Kevin settled in Taft, Calif. in the late 90s and graduated in 2002 STI College Taft, Calif..

Kevin leaves behind his beloved aunts, Sandra McCormick, wife of the late Thomas McCormick, Madeline Metrick, Ellen Spring, and, nieces and nephews Colleen Koyon Thompson, Katelyn Koyon, Samantha McCormick, Brendan McCormick, Michael Anderson, Zachary Anderson, and Madelyn Anderson, cousins Thomas McCormick Jr., Dana McCormick, Jarrod McCormick, Joseph Metric Wheaton, and Matthew Spring. Special friends Stephanie Turner Dargusch and her sons Lance and Logan, along with mother of his two children, Michelle Dias Brockton, will all sadly miss him.

Visiting hours will be held in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St. Whitman Thursday 4 - 7:15 p.m. with service's in the funeral home at 7:15 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.

Interment with Military Honors will take place at Mass National Cemetery, Bourne on Friday March 6th at 11 am.
