Lillian C. (Johansen, Leonard) Meserve of Whitman peacefully entered Heaven's gates from home on July 10, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 79. She was born on April 8, 1944 in Boston to the late Kenneth and Dorothy Johansen. Lillian was raised and educated in Boston and graduated from Jamaica Plain High School in 1963. Early in her career, Lillian worked for United Business Services of Boston before moving to Brockton where she raised her family while working at St. Joseph's Manor in Brockton as an Activities Assistant, and then at Massasoit Community College in food service where she was well known as "Lunch Lady Lil".
Lillian enjoyed traveling, trips to the beach, basking in the sun by her pool with a good book, watching the Patriots, Bruins and Hawaii Five-O, listening to religious hymns, hosting every holiday and spending quality time with her family. Most of all, she loved being the proud and doting "Nana Lil" to her three grandchildren and hosting "Nana Camps" during the summer. Being a mother and grandmother was one of the most important parts of her life. Lillian was a woman of strong faith who loved to make people laugh and always put the needs of others before her own. Her mantra was whatever you do, do it with a song in your heart and a smile on your face. She will always be in our hearts and our special memories with her will never be forgotten.
Lillian was predeceased by her husband Stanley Meserve of Whitman; her first husband and life-long friend Richard Leonard of Brockton; her brother Kenneth Johansen of Avon; sister Gloria Mangone of Michigan; and her beloved twin sister Elaine Howard of Florida with whom she shared a special bond with. Lillian was the loving mother of Michelle Constantine and her husband Tom of Whitman; Greg Leonard and his significant other Melissa Goodwin of Brockton; the cherished "Nana Lil" to Tommy, Dylan and Riley; loving sister-in-law and auntie to many nieces and nephews; and had many friends who all meant the world to her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Lillian on Wednesday July 19, 2023 from 4-6PM in the Mackinnon Funeral Home located at 760 Washington St Whitman. A funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home at 6pm. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lillian's memory to Old Colony Hospice.
