Madelyn Casey Burke passed away surrounded by her family. Born in Brockton, MA she was the daughter of Leo Casey and Valentine (Moreau) Casey. She was raised in Rockland, where she attended Rockland Public Schools and graduated from Rockland High School in 1952.
Madelyn went on to pursue her education at Chandler Business School, graduating in 1956. In 1960, she married the love of her life Bernard. In 1964, they settled in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, where they raised their children and built a life rooted in community and hard work.
Madelyn worked in real estate for many years before founding her own real estate company in the early 1980s. She took great pride in her work and in the relationships, she built along the way.
Madelyn found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was actively involved with the Berwick Boys Foundation, always eager to support and encourage young people in her community. She loved spending Saturday mornings exploring yard sales, delighted by the thrill of discovery and the stories behind each treasured find.
Madelyn is survived by her children: Richard of West Bridgewater; Valerie (Patrick) Gaughan of Middleboro; Nancy (Jim) Lovetere of Holly Springs, North Carolina; and Lisa McElroy Burns of West Bridgewater. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Loretta (Tom) Whalen of Whitman.
She was predeceased by her husband Bernard; her two sons, Paul and Peter; and her brother, Bernard Casey of Maryland. Though she endured profound loss, she carried herself with strength, grace, and unwavering love for those around her.
Madelyn’s warmth, resilience, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the community she served, and the countless lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Madelyn’s memory to Beacon Hospice of Fall River.
