Martin P. “Marty” Foley, of Dorchester, passed away on January 18, 2026, just days before his 88th birthday. He was the beloved son of the late Patrick Foley and Mary Foley (Costelloe).
Born on January 21, 1938, Marty was born and raised in Dorchester, a community he loved deeply and remained passionately connected to throughout his life. He was a proud graduate of Christopher Columbus High School in the North End, Class of 1955, and went on to earn his degree from Boston University.
In 1964, Marty married Patricia (Murphy), and together they began raising their family in St. Brendan’s Parish, where faith and community played an important role in their lives. Marty began his professional career working for the telephone company, but his entrepreneurial spirit soon led him to open Foley’s Flower Shop in Dorchester. For nearly 30 years (1975–2003), Marty and Pat built the business into a well-known and respected local institution before retiring in 2003.
Marty was deeply engaged in civic life and was especially passionate about Boston and Dorchester politics. He served as President of the FTD Network National, was an active member of the Dorchester Board of Trade, and was widely known for his dedication to strengthening the local business community.
An accomplished athlete in his younger years, Marty maintained an active lifestyle and a zest for life. He loved to travel the world and especially enjoyed cruises, including trips throughout the Caribbean and Canada, proudly considering himself a world traveler. Above all, Marty treasured time spent with his family, particularly his grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Marty is survived by his loving children, Timothy M. Foley and his wife Michelle of Dorchester, Regina Foley-Egan and her husband Anthony of Hanson, and Victoria Foley of Boston; and his cherished grandchildren, Jhonna, Martin, Max, Eamonn, Roisin, and Niamh. Marty was blessed to have Maureen Stevens as a loving companion for the last 11 years.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with a service to be held at 7:00 PM, at the McKinnon Funeral Home, in Whitman, Mass.
