Maryfrances Elliot

July 25, 1953 — October 19, 2023

Cape Cod, MA

Maryfrances Elliot, lovingly known as Mayfran, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2023 at the age of 70 from metastatic breast cancer. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and joy that touched the lives of everyone that had the privilege of knowing her.

Born in Plymouth, MA, Mayfran was the loving daughter of the late Margaret (Riva) and Arthur Warren Elliot. Raised in Manomet, MA, her love of the ocean lead her to study Oceanography at College of Virgin Islands. While earning an Associates Degree from Cape Cod Community College, she found her home on Cape Cod, MA where she would spend the majority of her life. She worked on Main Street in Hyannis at Poor Man’s Art Gallery and SoHo Arts Company where her passion for art and gifting flourished. Some of our fondest memories are visiting her at work, getting lunch, strolling along Main Street, and leaving with a small gift that she had picked just for you.

A remarkable mother and grandmother, Mayfran found true happiness in the company of her family, particularly her beloved grandchildren. She expressed her love for her family by giving gifts and would spend all year collecting the perfect items to give each person for birthdays, Easter, and Christmas. Among her many talents, her greatest talent may have been her cooking, and could often be found roasting giant feasts of chicken or beef for her family. You could always count on her to take photographs of every occasion with her polaroid or a disposable camera. Her photography collection includes thousands of family photos, spanning multiple generations, going back as far as the early 1900’s.

Mayfran’s memory will forever be carried on by her beloved children: Sean Walters and wife Mali of Norfolk, VA; Eric Walters and wife Elizabeth of Litchfield, NH; Julia Walters Rusinoski and husband Brent of Sandwich, MA; Warren Elliot of Hyannis, MA; Isaac Elliot; Emily Vitali of Salem, MA and Selah Russel of Jupiter, FL. and grandchildren Michaela, Alecia, Bailey, Odin, Bella, Mason, and a new granddaughter on the way. She also leaves behind her loving siblings Jill Nagle, Arthur (Bud) Elliot, Peter Elliot, Melanie Elliot, Claire Mohan, and Laura Boucher. She is pre-deceased by sister Carol Vitali. Additionally, she will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
