Matthew Coffey

     Matthew William Coffey, 44, of Southbrook, ME, formally of Whitman, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023, surrounded by loved ones, after a long illness. Matt is survived by his parents, Anne and George Coffey of Whitman, his sisters,  Allison Coffey of Bridgewater and Sara Doyle of East Bridgewater, his brother, Jimmy Coffey of Whitman, and his daughter, Miya Costa of Brockton. He leaves behind nieces Isabella Perez and Aubrey Doyle, nephew Owen Doyle, as well as many aunts and uncles. He is also survived by his partner of five years, Kelly Noble, of Southbrook, ME. Kelly dedicated herself to being Matt's primary caregiver the last couple years of his life as his illness progressed. 

     Matthew was the freest of spirits and lived his life without a care in the world. I swear he is the only person that did not know the meaning of the word "stress". He met many people throughout all of his adventures, and not one of them had a bad word to say about him. Matt didn't have many means but gave freely and would share whatever he had with anyone in need. Matt worked as a landscaper for many years. He was a horticulturalist, an artist, and combined the two passions to do landscape art; I don't know how, but he could get a rock to bloom. Matthew was also a lover of animals and we know his cats miss him desperately. 

     To know Matthew was to both love him and be constantly infuriated by him. Matt spent his years on earth looking for peace and our hope is that he has found it.
