Raymond F. Hoitt, Jr., PhD died Monday November 26, 2018 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Plymouth.

Ray was born January 30, 1937 to the late Virginia G. (St Peter) Hoitt and Raymond F. Hoitt,Sr. He was the brother of the late David L. Hoitt.

Ray leaves behind his wife Marie A. (Boudreau) of 59 years, of Carver. He also leaves behind his daughter Therese (Terri) Holt married to Glenn of Weymouth, his son Raymond (Skip) Hoitt of Carver, and his daughter Kathleen (Kathy) Philbeck married to Lane of Kingston.

Ray was the proud Grampy to 5 grandchildren: Benjamin Holt of Weymouth, Kurt Philbeck married to Rebecca Brynne of Australia, Ross Philbeck, Paul Philbeck and Shelby Philbeck of Kingston.

Ray graduated from Weymouth Vocational High School and was employed at The Patriot Ledger for 24 years. He graduated from Quincy College and Southwest University to complete his PhD in Addiction Treatment and Counseling. He was employed at Faulkner Hospital Addiction Treatment Unit and most recently, after his retirement from Faulkner, he worked at Highpoint in Plymouth. Ray served on the Board of Directors at Evergreen House in East Wareham.

Ray was a musician, playing clarinet and bass clarinet in the 215th Army National Guard Band. He also played clarinet and bass clarinet with the Southeastern Philharmonic Orchestra in Weymouth.

Honoring Ray's wishes, funeral services were private. Any donations in Ray's memory may be made to:
