Whitman, MA

Richard "Rich" Gatulis, 77, of Whitman, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026.

Raised and educated in St. Mark's Parish in Dorchester, Rich graduated from Charlestown High School, where he met the love of his life, Anna, during their freshman year. The two were married in 1970 and began their life together in Dorchester, where they started their family. After a brief time in Abington, they settled in Whitman in 1977, a community they proudly called home for nearly five decades. Together, Rich and Anna built a lifetime of cherished memories while raising their family in the town they loved.

Rich began his career as a lineman with Eastern Edison Company, a company that would later become National Grid. After his retirement, he continued sharing his knowledge and passion for the trade by training future linemen at  Eversource.

Family meant everything to Rich. Some of his happiest moments were spent at John's Pond in Carver, Orlando and in Ogunquit, Maine, where countless memories were made with his children and grandchildren. Whether close to home or across New England, Rich could always be found cheering from the sidelines at his grandchildren's sporting events. He never missed an opportunity to support those he loved.

In his spare time, Rich enjoyed tending to his garden, playing a round of golf, casting a fishing line, and trying his luck with scratch tickets. He appreciated life's simple pleasures and found the greatest joy in spending time with his family.

Rich is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Anna M. Gatulis (Greenwood) of Whitman; his loving children, Kristen Grace and her husband, John, of Halifax; Steven Gatulis and his wife, Jessica, of Oakham; and Kevin Gatulis and his wife, Jillian, of Douglas. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Delaney, Emma, Jack, Ruby, Mia, and Jake, each of whom brought him immeasurable pride and happiness.

He is also survived by his sisters, Christine Gatulis and Mary Blakeslee; his brothers, Bob Gatulis and Larry Gatulis; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Rich was predeceased by his brothers, Joe, Jack, Paul, and Jimmy Gatulis.
