Rita Dinsmore

Rita Dinsmore of Whitman passed away June 8, 2023 at the age of 89. Rita was raised and educated in Boston and graduated from Saint Rita's High School. After graduating high school Rita married and started a family with her former husband Nelson. She worked at the Green Shoe and at CVS for more than 35 years until her retirement.

Rita was a creative woman that loved doing arts and crafts. She enjoyed bingo, shopping and the Christmas season.  She had a special knack for always finding unique gifts to give to the people in her life. She was an extremely strong willed woman and was always a fighter who would never give up on anything she set her mind to do. Above all else she adored her family and cherished all the moments she spent with them.

Rita was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Barrett. She was the loving mother of Cindy Leopold, her husband Brian of Carver and the late William and Steven Dinsmore. Rita was the grandmother of Kasey, Shannon, Ashley, Sara and Grace. She was the sister of Elaine Batchelder, her husband Gill of Halifax and her brother the late Leo Barrett. Rita also leaves behind her two nieces Denise Schleiff and Sandra Carter.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Rita on Thursday June 15, 2023 from 10-12 in the morning at the MacKinnon Funeral Home, Whitman, MA. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 12pm. A graveside service will follow at the Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland.
