Whitman

Robert Cabral of Whitman passed away on September 29, 2023 at the age of 85. Robert was Raised and educated in Dighton and New Bedford. After his schooling he worked with his uncles delivering milk before joining the Navy. He served his country proudly and earned medals for "conduct, expert shooting and marksman". He met his wife Patricia while on leave and they got married shortly after. He was injured while on duty. Once his military service was concluded he returned home and worked tirelessly to support his family working in many different fields before starting "Cabbie Taxi" (the family cab) taxi/livery service based in Whitman. He enjoyed talking/joking with all the patrons he serviced while bringing them to their destination.

Robert had many hobbies and talents. He enjoyed watching western films, wrestling and all animals. He was a mechanic and enjoyed working on anything with an engine. In his later years he gave back to the community by helping deliver meals on wheels in Whitman for several years along with helping with cleaning chores @ the Whitman Fire Department. He spent the last year and a half at the V.A. Hospital. Where he was cared for by many amazing caregivers who joined in his effort to joke/tease even do a little jig bringing a laugh or smile to himself and the staff. Robert will be sorely missed by anyone who knew him.

Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia Ann Cabral (Chapman). He was a devoted husband. A strict/caring father of 5. Patricia Ann Anderson of Brockton, Mary Louise Stephens and her husband Walter of Abington, Robert F. Cabral of Whitman and his late significant other Donna Louise Giannetti of 20 years, and Geraldine Cabral Taylor and her husband Wayne of Norton. Robert also leaves behind his grandchildren Trevor N. Taylor and Shianne L. Taylor. He was predeceased by his son Robert Junior and beautiful grandchildren Tiffany May Joslyn and Derrick Thomas Joslyn.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation in Roberts memory on Wednesday October 11, 2023 from 5-8PM in the MacKinnon Funeral Home (760 Washington St. Whitman). A funeral service will take place the following morning Thursday, October 12, 2023 in the funeral home at 10:30AM. Burial will immediately follow at the Knollwood Cemetery in Canton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Roberts memory to the MSPCA or the Disabled American Veterans.
