Shaun McRae

Shaun W. McRae, 67, of Braintree, passed away on March 24, 2026.

Born and raised in Braintree, Shaun was the son of the late William F. and Dorothy F. McRae. He attended St. Francis of Assisi School, graduated from Braintree High School in 1978, and went on to study Architectural Engineering at Blue Hills Technical Institute. Shaun proudly served in the U.S. Naval Reserve until 1987 and later worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In recent years, he was a dedicated employee at Stop & Shop in Braintree.

Shaun had a deep love of history and was an avid Boston sports fan, rarely missing a game of the Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, or New England Patriots.

He was the father of Shaun McRae and his wife Lauren of New Hampshire, Ian McRae and his wife Brittany of Hanover, and Nicholas McRae-Cyr and his husband Matthew of Maine. He was a grandfather to Dylan, Jaxson, and Madison.

Shaun was the brother of Dennis McRae and his wife Judi of Dracut, Maureen McRae of Abington, Therese Persechini and her husband Bob of Abington, and Sheila Laham and her husband Mark of Brockton. He was predeceased by his brothers Brian McRae and Terrence McRae. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shaun’s memory to Heartfelt Dreams Foundation.
