Susan M. Hurley, of Brockton, passed away on February 18, 2026, at the age of 66. Born in Boston on March 24, 1959, she was the daughter of Joseph A. McGillivray and Mary T. (Cawley) McGillivray. She was raised in Hyde Park and Braintree.
Susan graduated from Braintree High School and went on to earn degrees from Northeastern University and Boston University. She dedicated 30 years of her career to the Kennedy-Donovan Center, where she made a lasting impact on countless families through her compassion and commitment.
Susan loved camping throughout the Northeast and had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. She especially loved the beach—particularly Cape Cod—and cherished any opportunity to gather with family. Holidays were her favorite time of year, especially Christmas, when family would come together to celebrate. She found great joy in entertaining, hosting family parties, and creating warm memories for those she loved.
She was incredibly proud of her sons and loved watching them grow—supporting them in sports and celebrating as they worked toward earning their Eagle Scout badges. She also treasured visiting her son when he lived in Charleston, South Carolina. Susan had a special gift with children and was especially devoted to caring for Benjamin and Reagan.
She is survived by her loving husband, John J. Hurley III, and her son, Michael J. Hurley of Brockton. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Alex J. Hurley.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to the MacKinnon Funeral Home, located 760 Washington St., Whitman on Thursday, February 26th from 4 to 7PM for a memorial visitation for Susan. The following day, Friday the 27th, family and friends are also invited for a short Celebration of Life promptly starting at 10AM in the funeral home. There will be a funeral Mass at the Christ the King Church in Brockton at 1030AM. Burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan’s memory to South Shore Palliative Care or the Kennedy-Donovan Center.
