Wayne S. McLaughlin of E. Bridgewater passed away on April 30, 2023, at the age of 92. Wayne was born, raised and educated in Brockton graduating from Brockton High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and gained many qualifications with various vehicles and weapons. He stayed in the Army National Guard for many years and was on the competition shooting team winning many awards. He met his wife Sheila and the two wed on September 3, 1961. Wayne began his career at the Veteran Administration Hospital as a psychiatric orderly and finally retired as the Supervisor of Building Management after 30 years. Wayne also owned and operated a Mac’s Floor Cleaning Service for over 30 years.
Wayne was a man with many talents and hobbies. In his early years he enjoyed racing his Austin-Healy Sprite. He met Sheila at one of these time trial races. After their wedding they took their VW Bug up to Montreal for a honeymoon then settled in East Bridgewater to start their family. He loved bowling and even went to Las Vegas as a senior bowler with the A.B.C. Above all else Wayne adored his family. He cherished all the time he got to spend with them and will be missed by all who knew him.
Wayne was the loving husband of 61 years to Sheila McLaughlin of E. Bridgewater. He was the devoted father of Eileen McLaughlin of Middleboro, Patricia Bradford and her husband William Sr. of W. Bridgewater, James McLaughlin of Mansfield, Michael McLaughlin and his wife Karen of E. Bridgewater, Thomas McLaughlin and his wife Meg of Raynham and Daniel McLaughlin and his wife Tammy of Middleboro. Wayne was the cherished grampa of Michael, Angela, Nate, Amethyst, William Jr., Samantha, Taylor, Derek, Jamie, Jacob, Jack, Katelyn, Jonathan and Grace. Wayne also leaves behind his beloved great grandchildren Michael Jr., Melody, Samuel, Alton, Stevie, Tyler, Jayden, Chloe, Eloise, Theo, Liam, Madison, Abigail and Eve.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Wayne on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 2-6 PM in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St Whitman. A funeral service will take place in the MacKinnon Funeral Home on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 11AM followed by a burial at the Central Cemetery in E. Bridgewater.
