Carol Wood

January 2, 1943 — October 14, 2011

Carol O'Connell-Wood, 68, of Harwich, died peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family after losing her battle to cancer. Carol's passing is a great personal loss to all that knew and loved her. Although to Carol, in her words, "death is like taking off a tight shoe".

Her life on this earth is a reminder that this world can be a better place. She appreciated what was right and good in life and shared with others her great love for art, music, nature, books, sunsets, friends and family and what made her special was her compassion for all.

Carol exemplified someone of true character, believing in what was right and fair and who always acted with the truest of intentions.

Carol's greatest gift to all that were lucky enough to know her and to all those that would have greatly benefited in standing in the shadow of her life can be best explained in the quote written by Victor Frankl, "Each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible".

Carol is survived by her sons; Sean P. O'Connell of Dennis and Timothy M. O'Connell, grand-daughter Morgan O'Connell of Harwich and her brother Ronald Chesebro of Bourne.

A memorial gathering will be held at Brax Landing in Harwich on Friday, October 21 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

In lieu of Flowers, donations can be sent to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod, Care of Foundation, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
