Caroline (Carol) M. Pontes, known to many as, "Gram", 82, went to be with the Lord and join her son, Louis James Horner III, on Monday, November 25, 2019, in Milton, Ma. at Seasons Hospice, after a brief illness. She was born, May 13,1937, in New Bedford, Ma.
She was the daughter of the late Domingo and Vera (Webb) Pontes and graduated from Brighton High School with high honors & a member of the National Honors Society, class of 1955. Caroline went on to further her education at North Eastern University while raising her two, young children. She became a microbiologist and worked at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital and The Mattapan Chronic Disease Hospital, both in Mattapan and was very proud of her profession.
She was a very intelligent woman with many talents, including her ability to design and make clothing. Caroline was an entrepreneur and owned two Burger Kings in the 80's, one was in Dorchester & the other was in Roslindale, while residing in Marshfield, Ma. for 16 years. She was an avid volunteer at The Robin's Nest in Marshfield helping and caring for others.
Caroline moved to Scituate in 1991, after retiring and worked at Reynold's Package Store for many years and was well known in the community. She enjoyed listening to jazz music and occasionally, drink a glass of red wine. She also enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles on her spare time.
She loved her family unconditionally and was very proud of the legacy she created. A beautiful, kind and devoted human being, whom left an impression on those blessed by her presence. She will be greatly missed by her family & friends.
Caroline is survived by her beloved daughter: Sharita V. Kamboj of Whitman, grandson: Richard K. Lobo Jr. and his wife Regan of Weymouth, grand daughter: Nikki Lobo of Whitman (whom Caroline resided with along w/ her daughter Sharita) grandson: Robert Derochea Jr. of Whitman, great grandchildren: Richard III, Revon, Rian & Raune Lobo, Joseph, Xavier and Jazmine Depina & a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care for their wonderful compassion & care they provided to Caroline, "Gram"
