Diana Sundeen

January 21, 1930 — August 3, 2019

Diana B. Sundeen passed away August 3, 2019 At Kaplan House Hospice in Danvers following a stroke.  The daughter of Walter and Irma Barrows, Diana is survived by her sister Jean Holmes of Santa Barbara, California, and her brother Robert "Timmy" Barrows of Catonsville, Maryland.  Diana was predeceased by her sister Marcia Wood.  Diana received her BA from Vassar College in 1951.  After raising four children "of the Lake Wobegon variety," she received her Masters from Framingham State Teachers College. Diana grew up in Wellesley, and she raised her four children there as well.  She is survived by her son Christopher and his wife Karen of Cape Cod; daughter Lee of Tiverton, Rhode Island; daughter Hilary of Bolinas, California; and son Joel and his wife Beverly of Haverhill, Mass.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Isaac, Emma, Mary Elizabeth, William, Jared, Edward and Chuck; and one great grandchild, Teddy.

Diana enjoyed being on the water, whether in a boat, swimming, or from the shore.  She had homes on two lakes in New Hampshire, the inland waterway in Florida, Cape Cod, and Martha's Vineyard.  Boating, the sea, lakes and in fact water of just about any kind seemed to call to her.  In her 89 years she renovated many homes, including two historic houses, the Theodore Rider house (1750) in Medway, Mass and the Mariner Goodwin house (1710) in Newburyport, Mass.  She also enjoyed clouds, gardens, traveling around the world and a good joke well told.

Much gratitude to the staff at Rose Court (Brooksby Village) and at Kaplan House Hospice.   In accordance with Diana's wishes, her ashes will be thrown from a high hill.
