Donald Kennedy

September 25, 1925 — February 6, 2013

Donald C. Kennedy passed away on February 6, 2013 at the age of 87 in Falmouth Ma.He was born in Quincy, Ma September 25, 1925. He was predeceased by four siblings­ Jeanne  Carole, Richard  and Dale.  He was the eldest of the five children.

He is survived by his loving  wife, of 64 years, Marjorie Kennedy whom he married in August 28, 1948. Four children- Allan Kennedy of Abington, Ma, Sheila Kennedy and her husband Bill Vinkle of Largo, FL ,Daniel C. Kennedy of Mashpee, Ma and Cindie Kennedy and her husband Jon McKay of St. Thomas US Virgin Islands. Grandchildren: Ashley Kennedy, Rebecca Kennedy, Katelyn Kennedy, Chris Kennedy, Michael Kennedy and Matthew Kennedy and one Great grandchild- Michael Kennedy Jr. Nieces: Carole Jean Mason and Deb Withem Nephews: Dan Pierce, Steve Pierce and David Knight.

Donald lived a full life, he joined the Army when he was 18 and left the Army in 1946 as a decorated veteran earning a Bronze star, European Theatre Medal, Medal of Good Conduct, Victory Medal, Marksman Medal, 3 Battle stars, Combat Infantry Badge and the Arms of the City of Colmar.

After leaving the army he met and married Marjorie Flint and raised four children. He started his own insurance agency in South Weymouth after leaving Liberty Mutual in Boston. He sold his insurance company to move to the Virgin Islands with only 5 suitcases and one hotel reservation, what a leap of faith to journey off to another land and he did it with  his wife and his youngest daughter, Cindie and no job when he arrived. He quickly found a job and lived on Water Island for 13 years before moving to Puerto Rico and becoming the President for Cigna Worldwide Insurance for the caribbean.  He enjoyed traveling to all the islands in the caribbean and europe.  He retired and moved to Florida briefly before returning to Massachusetts and settling in Mashpee for the remainder of his life.  He loved golf, painting, crossword puzzles and reading.  He will be missed by so many friends and family.
