George Johnson

May 14, 1935 — February 13, 2021

Proud Korean War Navy Veteran, George Robert Johnson, 85, of Falmouth, MA gained his angel wings on February 13, 2021 due to complications associated with COVID-19.

George will be immensely missed by his wife and best friend of nearly 67 years, Judith Lee Johnson, and their six children Mark Johnson, Michele Parker, Stephen Johnson (Marlo), Susan Wright (Stephen), Scott Johnson, and Gregg Johnson (Celeste).

George ended his working career as a Bus Driver for Falmouth Public Schools where he was given the title “Candy Man” by his co-workers and students for always having candy to share. George was an avid baseball fan and loved the Boston Red Sox. Although he took pride in his work and loved watching baseball, family was the essence of George’s life and he was most honored to be the patriarch, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. He was a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

George leaves a permanent mark etched on the hearts of all that had the pleasure of knowing him including his extended family and friends he considered family.

The family would like to whole-heartedly thank all the health care professionals at Falmouth Hospital for their great care in the last couple of weeks of his life and for being there to comfort him in his final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to please consider donating to Alcoholics Anonymous, as George was a proud member of A.A. and just celebrated 49 years of sobriety.
