Hazel Burns

August 4, 1923 — February 2, 2012

Hazel B. (Jones) Burns of Whitman passed away peacefully February 2, 2012, after a brief illness.  She was 88 years old.  She was born, raised and resided in Whitman for all of her years.   Daughter of the late Bradford and Lilian Jones of Whitman and wife of the late Joseph L Burns.  She is survived by her brother Robert of Brewster, MA and predeceased by her sister Marian.  Loving mother of Stephen of Hanson and Dennis of Taunton, as well as her 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grand children.

During the late 1940’s to the 60’s, she was the head waitress at the Toll House Restaurant in Whitman.  It was a known fact that upon arrival of any dignitary, Hazel was the one that the owner wanted to serve them.  In her later years she enjoyed spending time in Florida with her husband Joe and enjoyed making time to be with her family.

Visiting hours in MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St, Whitman, Tuesday, Feb 7 th from 4-7PM.

Funeral Mass Wednesday, Feb 8 th at 9AM in the Holy Ghost Church, 49 School St, Whitman, followed by interment at St James Cemetery, Whitman.
