Joseph Locantore

Joseph A. Locantore, 69, of Bridgewater, MA, loving husband to “Jackie” Helen (Alman) Locantore, died November 24th 2020, after a short battle with cancer.

Joseph was born January 20th, 1951 in Milford, MA, to the late Vito and Mary (Alberta) Locantore. He was the older brother of Deborah Locantore.

Joseph graduated from Milford High School in 1969 and spent three years at Massachusetts College of Art. He finished his Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts at Bridgewater State College in 2004.

He started attending church in Bridgewater in 1974, where he first met Jackie. He made Bridgewater his home in 1975 and married Jackie October 7th, 1978. Despite weathering many trials together throughout the years, he always stayed by her side and kept her entertained. She is fond of saying about him “he was never boring.”

Joseph was a member of Grace Anglican Church, formerly Trinity Covenant Church. He was a devout Christian, whose unwavering faith in God carried him through many tribulations in life. He was a member of the vestry, an usher and a Sunday School teacher.

Joseph had a deep love of the arts. He was a talented artist and singer, performing with the Concordia Youth Chorale in high school and touring with them in Europe in the summer of 1969. He went on to sing with his church’s Music Ministry for decades. He was also a member of Covenant Sanctuary Art Studio, and received numerous awards for his drawings and paintings over the years. Throughout his lifetime he was involved in many theater productions, both on and off stage. He also had a career in graphic design and worked in the printing industry. He did several years of mission work in Guatemala.

Joseph lived his life by the examples of Jesus Christ, with kindness, compassion, grace and love. His greatest accomplishment was being a proud father to his three daughters and Papa to his six grandchildren.

After receiving his cancer diagnosis, Joseph had a brief respite from the hospital and proudly spent one of his last days at home voting in the 2020 election. He said he wasn’t afraid to die, because he knew he was going to be with the Lord, but was only afraid to leave his best friend and love of his life, Jackie, alone without him.

Joseph died at Brockton Hospital with his family by his side.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie of Bridgewater, MA, his dearest sister Debbie Locantore of Boothbay, ME, his three beautiful daughters, Brittany Locantore of New Bedford, MA, Sharon Locantore, and Angela Parker of Brockton, MA, his son-in-laws Joshua Parker and Ashley Duarte, his granddaughters Amber, Madisyn, Lea and Cora, and his grandsons Tobias and Remy.
