Judith F. (Corey) (White) Stinchfield

MIDDLEBORO ­– It is with great sorrow that the family of Judith F. Stinchfield announces her passing on Friday, November 15, 2019. She was 76.

Judy died in her home in Middleboro surrounded by love from near and far. As a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, she cherished her circles of family and friends. She shined most brightly when in the middle of them.

She was the beloved wife of Arthur Stinchfield of Middleboro. They enjoyed that rare second chance at love.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses: Marlo White and Kevin Richman of Lakeville; Mitchell White of Middleboro; Susan and Allan Chacey of Markham, Va.; John and Carla White Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; Natalie White and Jeremy Crockford of Middleboro; and Nancy Gamache of Somerset. She taught them the importance of family, how to squint to see the possibilities, how to knock down walls and rebuild, and how to ride with the wind.

Judy is preceded in death by her former husband John White of Middleboro, and her parents Harry M. and Priscilla (Stearns) Corey. He was her first love, and they centered her life.

She thoroughly enjoyed and will be fondly remembered by her many grandchildren: Nathaniel, Quinn, Cooper, and Sawyer Richman;  Chad, Haley, Christian, and Cameron White; Addison and Danielle Chacey; John and Tania White III and Jessica White and Taylor Martin; Zachary, Emma, and Samuel Crockford; and Joseph Kulpa. She was game for any game with them, most notably playing marbles, Monopoly, Go Fish, Checkers, Chess, and Judge Judy. They will remember forever her “No Baby Rules” rule.

She is also survived by her stepfamily: Vickey and Bud Morris of Bridgewater and their children Victor and Magaly Santiago; Arthur and Debra Stinchfield Jr. of East Bridgewater and their children Brett and Jenna. She always appreciated their love for their father and grandfather.

Affectionately known as Jiggs or Jiggles, she will be warmly remembered by her siblings and their spouses: Annette Holmes of Middleboro; Virginia and Brian Spaulding of Maine; Patricia and Bruce Boni of South Carolina; Ronald and Renee Corey of Florida; Bruce and Cheryl Corey of Connecticut; Denise Corey of Florida; Patricia Corthell of Wareham; and Dean Corey of Florida. She was preceded in death by her sister Gail Corey of Somerville; her sister Mary Corey of Rhode Island; her sister Frances McCormack and brother-in-law Joseph McCormack of Abington; her brother Harry “Mickey” Corey and sister-in-law Marguerita Corey of Middleboro; her brother-in-law Richard White of Maryland; her brother-in-law Chester Holmes of Middleboro; and her brother Gordon Corey of Florida. The mischief she got up to with them was usually at her instigation, and full of fun and adventure.

She loved gatherings where she could spend time with friends and extended family including her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. There was always room at the kitchen table for a Judy chat.

She grew up in East Bridgewater, where she established many lifelong friendships, and moved to Middleboro, where she raised her family and gathered many more dear friends to her side. Including Beverly Boothman who will speak in her honor at the interment ceremony. Judy was generous with her time, her jokes, and her stories. She lifted those around her and made them feel special.

As a teenager she fell in love with horses, and was a champion member of the Rough Rider Club on her first horse, Chippewa. She shared that love with others with her miniature horse Small World Farm in Middleboro, which she established with her husband Art, and earlier in life as a 4-H leader of the Middleboro Flying Hooves Club. She was always head of the posse.

She graduated from East Bridgewater High School, where she was involved in chorus and the sophomore hop as well as a library assistant. She attended Pondville Hospital School of Nursing in Walpole.

In addition to her horses, she enjoyed chair caning, woodcarving, gardening, birdwatching, and collecting antiques. She was an antique dealer through her mother’s store “Oldies” in East Bridgewater. She ran WhitCo Auto Sales in Middleboro with her former husband John White and her brother Mickey Corey. She volunteered with many school and local groups including Middleboro Little League, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Road to Responsibility.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to New England Equine Rescue North in 52 Ash Street, West Newbury, MA 01985 or Road to Responsibility, 125 John Hancock Road, Taunton, MA 02780, or to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379.

An interment ceremony will be held Saturday, November 30th, 11:30 am at the Parish Cemetery at the Green, 8 Plympton St., Middleboro, followed at 1 pm a Celebration of Life, at the Fireside Grille in Middleboro.
