Kenneth F. Roy of Whitman formerly of Medford passed away May 22, 2012. Kenneth was a retired U.S. Navy Veteran serving for 23 years from 1949-1972 and achieving the rank of Sr. Chief Petty Officer. He served during the Korean and Vietnam eras. He was a Sr. Chief Parachute rigger, an expert marksman, and graduate of U.S. Navy SERE training. He was also a member of DAV.

In addition to his military career Ken also in his younger years enjoyed his knucklehead Harley, as well as competing, racing dirt scramblers of the Harley 125 division, and he was a recipient of numerous trophies. He enjoyed camping, hunting, sailing and saltwater fishing with his family. He loved spending summers at their cottage on the upper Cape where they had many shindigs (Navy Style). He enjoyed Ballroom Dancing with his wife Marie of 59 Years. He loved model making of tug boats and painting of maritime vessels. He was an avid gardener, and loved nature, and the wild kingdom. He was very generous in lending a helping hand to whoever needed it. He will be greatly missed.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Marie A. (MacPhail )Roy.  His 7 children Alice Thieme  and her husband Dirk of CA, Linda Weber and husband Michael of Plymouth, Dorothy Bailey and husband Edward of N. Easton, Kenneth F. Roy, Jr. and his wife Vicki of Pembroke, Laurence Roy of Carver, Alan Roy and his wife Robin of Carver and Renee Wolfe of N. Easton. Brother of the late Thelma Morelli. Also survived by 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St., Whitman on Tuesday May 29 th 4-8 pm.

Funeral Mass Wednesday in Holy Ghost Church at 9 am. Relatives and friends invited to attend.

Interment will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne Wednesday at 11:15 am with full Military Honors
