Laurentine Mullane

December 30, 1915 — April 7, 2010

Laurentine A. (Waggett) Mullane age 94 a longtime resident of Monponsett and Dorchester died April 7, 2010 at Marina Bay Rehab and Nursing Facility where she was recovering from a broken hip and hand. Laurentine was also battling Parkinson’s disease for the last 7 years of her life. Laurentine was born in Boston and was the daughter of John and Winifred Waggett. Beloved wife of the late BPD Detective William D. Mullane. Devoted mother of retired BPD Lt. Detective William H. “Bo” Mullane and his wife Patricia of S. Boston formerly of Norwood, retired BTD Janice “Sis” Mullane Grimaldi of Quincy formerly of Dorchester, retired BFD Lt. Neal Mullane Sr. of Dorchester formerly of Halifax, and his dear friend Mary Amantangelo, Jacqualine Miner and her husband Arthur of Hanson formerly of Pembroke, BFD and 3 rd District Vice President of IAFF A. Michael Mullane of Quincy and his dear friend Elaine Malone, and Ann (Mullane) Diodati of Rowley. Mother-in- law of the late Elaine Mullane of Halifax, and Sister-in-law of the late BFD James Mullane. Laurentine was the sister of Robert P. (Elliot) Powers of the Savin Hill section of Dorchester and the late BFD Robert K.”Lefty” Waggett of Pembroke. She was the proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Laurentine died 8 weeks after her best friend of 87 years Doris Cummings. Laurentine was raised in the Savin Hill section of Dorchester and graduated from St. Margaret’s High School. She worked in the checkroom for many years at the Statler Hotel in Boston. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting afghans for everyone. Her most treasured past was dancing with the Dottie Dunham Dancing Seniors, where she had many wonderful friends. She also enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with family and friends. She was a quiet lady who lived by her Christian values. She was a gift and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know her.

Visiting hours in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St.WHITMAN on Friday Apr. 9 th 4-9 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be on Saturday in Our Lady of the Lake Church in Halifax at 11 am. Relatives and friends invited to attend.

Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery in Pembroke.
