“Sally” McIntyre

(Marguerite K. Thompson)

Marguerite K. (Thompson) McIntyre, 80, of Newton passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the Stanley R. Tippet House in Needham with loving family members at her bedside. Marguerite (Sally) was Bruce McIntyre’s wife of 60 extraordinary loving years. She leaves behind her brother Thomas McGuire, sons Jon and Jeffrey and their wives Mary Beth and Sophie, daughters Cynthia and Heather and their husbands Jeffrey Prescott and Scott Melanson. Sally leaves her beloved grandchildren Ashley and husband Bryan, Patrick, Kelly, Sean, Kyle, Hailey, Julia, Rachel and Aiden, and great grandsons Jackson and Grady, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Sally was born in Waltham and lived in Newtonville, Marlboro, Wilbraham, and finally West Newton. A graduate of Waltham High School, Sally worked as a secretary at Raytheon Co. and a night supervisor at Bay Banks in Waltham. She was very active at St. Bernards as a lector, Eucharist minister, member of the lady’s guild and decorating committee, and as a remembrance chairperson. A member of the Franklin School P.T.A. and she volunteered as a lunch lady.

Sally’s greatest passion was entertaining and hosting her family for birthdays and holidays showering them with home cooked food, gifts, and lots of love. An avid decorator she would turn her house into a virtual showplace depicting the reason for the party, i.e. Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s, Easter, July 4 th , Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her house has many ceramic and crewel embroidery pieces which demonstrate her talented craft abilities. She loved to babysit her grandchildren and attend their school activities and sports events. Her four children are forever grateful for the unswerving devotion she gave to their lives.  Sally put her whole self into caring for her family and friendships.  She will be deeply missed, but leaves them with a lasting legacy of love and a strong message to celebrate life and one another as often and as much as possible.
