Mary Goguen

We are deeply saddened to announce the tragic passing of Mary Elizabeth Goguen on August 9th, 2022. She passed quietly and unexpectedly with her two best friends by her side, dogs Maddie and Cooper. Mary was born April 10, 1971 in Quincy, Ma and is preceded by her mother Cecile (Dubois) Goguen.

Mary is survived by her two children Amanda Goguen of Whitman and Nicholas Bertrand of Abington and cherished Granddaughter Ariana Kearney, whom she gave her heart and soul to every day. Additionally, Mary leaves behind her two bonus grandchildren Makayla and Ava Kearney and longtime companion Michael Bertrand, 9 siblings and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mary had a selfless, giving spirit. Anyone who came into contact with her benefited from her compassion, generosity and guidance. Mary knew exactly what to say. She always gave the best advice, sometimes the tough love that was necessary. Mary held a unique relationship with everyone; The bonds so tight they will never be released.

Everyone who loves her knows, Mary was a genuinely good, authentic, perfectly honest- no BS- kind and brave soul. She was everyone's favorite neighbor on Winthrop Street! She selflessly contributed to her community, whether it be babysitting last minute, dropping off groceries, shoveling- she truly mothered generations.

Mary worked at the Arc of Greater Plymouth as a Direct Support Professional for Adults with Developmental Delays. She was able to reach the individuals she worked with in such a way that encouraged independence and success despite any limitations or obstacles. Her true essence was that of a caregiver.

Relatives and friends invited to attend visitation on Tuesday August 16 ^th in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St., Whitman 4-7 pm.

A Funeral Service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home.
