Melissa, you will always have a place in my heart. I am forever grateful for your true friendship:
Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Nothing has happened.
Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just round the corner.
All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again.

To Melissa's family-
We are so sorry to hear of your great loss. We were asked by a friend of Melissa's mom, Cindy LoBalbo, to pray for Melissa and your family some time ago. We have prayed, and will continue to pray for you during this very difficult time. Our prayers will be for God to comfort and strengthen you, and that you will feel His never ending love through the kindness and care shown to your family by others.

I am very sorry about the loss. I knew her from Lyme disease classes in Whitman library. She seemed so helpful and smart. I also lost my wife 2 years ago form Pneumonia and then lost my son 4 months ago I certainly know the pain. I am a Christian so I know my wife and son are with Jesus in heaven the Bible ensures us of eternal life there to all God's children who place faith in him. Please accept my heartfelt sorrow at this moment. I always say although I miss my wife and son the earth they left behind was a disaster and the one gained unspeakable.
God go with you

My sincerest condolences to Melissa's entire family.
When the road you walk is dark
May you always hear
Even in the hour of your sorrow
The gentle singing of the Lark
When times are hard, may hardness
Not turn your heart to stone
And may you always remember
You do not walk alone.

So sorry for your loss. Melissa made a huge contribution and endeared all who met her. In times of loss., the right words are often hard to find but our creator gives us these words of hope found at Revelation 21:4:"...death will be no more.., the former things have passed away."

This news is so incredibly awful. Melissa leaves this world with quite a legacy though. Despite the fight for her own health she was out there fighting for Justina and really for all children illegally kidnapped for medical trials. I didnt know that she was also fighting for other causes-how did she do it all. I feel so awful for her kids and husband.. So sorry to see you go so soon Melissa-- you will be remembered by many people who now know you for your heroic fight. God Bless Melissa's family..-watch over he kiddos.

George, Morgan, Owen, Taylor and extended family...I am so heartbroken to hear this news. My prayers are with you and your family, Melissa was an amazing warrior in every sense of the word. I had the pleasure of meeting her during many protests for Justina. She fought this latest battle with such dignity and grace and despite this outcome, I truly believe that God's hand was on her and He used her even in her suffering, to reach countless lives. She is now free from pain....and I believe that her beautiful spirit will live on through every heart that she touched. May God show His tangible presence to all of you right now and send comfort and peace to you all. You were blessed with an amazing wife and mother, as she was blessed to have each of you. I pray for you all to have the strength to move forward, keeping her legacy alive forever. She will forever be a hero to so many people that she touched throughout her life. RIP sweet Melissa......free of pain.....in everlasting joy <3

My heartfelt sympathies to you on the loss of your beloved wife and mother.
I knew Melissa from the lymenet.org website for many years. She was a DYNAMO of activism. I remember her free Justina well and participated.
She way to young to go to Heaven, but look for the pennies and other things she will show each of you that she IS with you all daily as you go on without her in your lives.
May God be with you now and in the days, months, and years ahead.
