Richard Mccarthy

Richard Brian McCarthy, 45, of Avon and Abington succumbed peacefully to cancer at Massachusetts General Hospital on July 3, 2011 surrounded by his family.   A graduate of Abington High School and Fitchburg State College, Rick was a longtime employee of Reebok International. Rick was a beloved son and brother, and favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his parents, Mary (McManus) and Richard McCarthy of Abington, sisters: Maura Dionne and husband Charles of Windham, N.H.; Kerin McCarthy Fredman and husband Andrew of Coral Gables, FL; Deirdre Katz and husband Douglas  of Boxford; Jennifer McCarthy of Abington, and brothers: Sean and his wife Suzanne of Mansfield; and Michael and his wife Stacy of Bridgewater . He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Christina, Matthew, Zachary, Alexander, Joshua, Gabrielle, Kerrin, Natalie, Juliana, Margaret, Molly, Kathryn, Liam and Luke. Rick’s family wishes to thank his extended family and friends for all their love and support, especially Cara McElaney.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday July 7th 4-7pm in the MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St., Whitman.

Funeral Mass will be on Friday July 8 ^th at 9 am at St. Bridget’s Church, Abington.

Interment at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Abington.
