Stephen Fortune

August 9, 1938 — September 4, 2020

Stephen A. Fortune Sr, age 82 of Quincy, MA. (Formerly of Bridgewater, Brockton and Boston, MA) passed away on September 4, 2020 lovingly surrounded by his children. He was the son of the late John and Mary Fortune. Brother to Kevin Fortune of Quincy, MA and the late John (Sonny) Fortune and the late Matthew (Buddy) Fortune. He was married to the love of his life, Ann Marie (O’Brien) Fortune for over 50 years. Ann passed away in 2014 and a part of Steve’s heart went with her. He missed her every day. Steve leaves his devoted family, Lisa Fortune Creeden and her husband, Gregg Creeden of Cumberland RI, Stephen Fortune, Jr and his wife, Gina Fortune of Bridgewater, MA, Laura Fortune and her partner, Neil Martin of Conway, MA, David Fortune of Boston, MA, Bryan Fortune of Boston, MA, and Oreo, his faithful feline companion. His grandchildren, Justin, Tyler, & Evan Creeden and Stephanie, Jack, & Haylie Fortune will lovingly carry many wonderful memories of their beloved Grampy in their hearts forever. Steve also leaves behind many cherished family and friends. He was employed as a Sales Manager for Melo-Tone Vending for most of his career and gained a loyal base of customers and friends over the many years.

Steve, aka Snooky, had an easygoing nature and lived life from his heart. He is going to be greatly missed. It does not seem possible that he is gone from this earth. He had a big personality and possessed the 3 C’s …charisma, charm, and care. These traits carried him far. He loved people and they loved him back. He was especially attentive to those that needed a helping hand. He lived by his own rules and on his own terms. He was always full of surprises in his approach to life. As his wife always said, “He is a man that you can’t put a label on.”

He was rich in his heart and thought nothing of sharing whatever was in his pockets to help someone in need.  No one was a stranger. If he saw someone looking like they needed a smile, he would pick up their tab, sit with them on a bench or invite them to join him for lunch. His genuine interest and care would earn them a lifetime friend.

We would be remiss if we did not acknowledge another passion of our warm spirited Dad. He loved to play cards and try his luck at the casino. His lifelong love of playing was as much a part of him, as was his big heart. We have been hearing stories from friends far and wide about his kindness. If someone was “down on their luck”, he would help finish their day off right. He always shared his “Fortune” - as he was aptly named. We will cherish the wonderful memories and will miss you and love you forever.

Due to Covid19 restrictions, A celebration of Stephens life will be held in 2021.
