Suzanne Julius

October 15, 1952 — February 20, 2023

Stoughton

We honor the life of Suzanne Jurgens Julius of Stoughton, who passed away peacefully on February 20, 2023 at Good Samaritan hospital after a long illness. Sue was born October 15 1952 in New York. She was the daughter of the  late Joan (Pepper) Peterson and Harold Jurgens. She graduated from East Bridgewater High School in 1971. As a teenager she worked as a waitress. She then married and became a stay at home mom to her 3 children. She volunteered with the cub scouts , pack 28, and was involved with Jessica's dancing classes. Eventually she moved to the Buzzards Bay area, getting a job at Shaws Fish and Lobster. She loved being "grandma" at Grandma's pie shop baking thousands of pies for many years. She was devastated when they closed their doors for good. She often reminisced about her fun times at the restaurant and all the wonderful relationships she had made there. In 2008 she moved back to Stoughton with her son Luke, renting the same house she had rented from Grandpa Jack nearly 50 years ago.

Sue was thoughtful, generous, and caring. She would give you the shirt off her back. She would do anything for anybody. As her friend Chris wrote, "it's weird when you think about it, the folks who have the least offer you the most." That was Sue.  She was compassionate and irreplaceable. Her laugh was infectious and unforgettable. Many friends remember her "snort" as well. She was funny, fresh and honest. She let you know exactly what she was thinking , even if you didn't want to hear it. She loved watching football, screaming at the tv and making her picks for the week. (She called it drafting! ) She also loved playing along with Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She enjoyed watching cooking shows, crime shows, and lifetime movies. She loved playing cards and taught her grandson Patrick how to play rummy when he was just a little kid. She loved watching the birds in her yard and she  always had the radio on. Sue was constantly saying something inappropriate and silly, making every one laugh. She loved the beach, especially Electric beach in Buzzards Bay. She valued her friends and family so much and it was so wonderful that she could go on Facebook and see what everyone was up to. She got a kick out of commenting on everyone's posts! That was a great way for her to stay in touch with friends and family near and far! She even learned how to facetime! Sue definitely was a party girl and she loved to have a good time . She lived her life on her own terms, doing what she wanted, right until her last hours with us. She stayed strong and persevered through multiple health challenges. She is now finally free of that pain. Hopefully she has been  reunited with her cherished mother  and her best friend. She had been missing them both terribly. One thing every one can agree with about Sue is how much  she  adored her family and that she  loved being a gramma more than anything in the world. Her children and her grandchildren were the light of her life. You could see how she beamed with pride when talking about them. She truly treasured them. Suzanne is survived by her devoted father , Ron Peterson of East Bridgewater. Also, Her three loving children and their families. Brant Julius, his wife Heather and daughter Ambrynn of Port Charlotte, FL. Jessica Julius, her partner Eryk, and her sons Patrick and Jackie of East Bridgewater. And lastly , Luke Julius of Stoughton, who had been helping to care for his mom recently . She will  be greatly missed by her sister Joanne Covel and her son Matthew, and many other loving "in-laws" and their children.

All are invited to join her family for a celebration of life Party at the East Bridgewater Commercial Club on Sunday March 5th from 2 to 6 pm.  As Sue would so often  say "cool beans and Rock on! "
